About

Who am I?

I am a qualified and experienced psychotherapeutic counsellor, and a warm and genuine person with a wholehearted approach to my work. I am curious, kind, and perceptive, and will take an active role in working together to find a way forward that works for you.

What might you expect from working with me?

Some people come to therapy with a specific issue they wish to explore or resolve; others come with no idea where to start, just an inherent sense of ‘stuckness’. Whatever your starting point, I will meet you from a place of deep empathy and compassion, and we will explore your difficulty together. I will aim to create a safe, non-judgmental, and trusting therapeutic relationship in which you feel understood and accepted, just as you are.

My approach is person-centred, which means I believe the best way to understand emotional distress is through eyes and experience of the unique person navigating it. From this vantage point it becomes possible to understand human experience and behaviour more deeply and address the source of distress with empathy and compassion. I aim to support you to process and make sense of your experience, and, in doing so, help you to move forward.

The common experience amongst clients I see is that something within them shifts through the course of our work together, as they come to know themselves better. These shifts might happen in any number of ways; perhaps in how they view themselves, perhaps in their relationships or circumstances. Clients tend to feel empowered to make changes, less weighed down by the opinions of others, more accepting of themselves and others, and more able to cope with what life brings.

My personal experience of psychotherapy shifted my life for the better. It supported me to identify and evaluate self-limiting beliefs and foster self-compassion. This enabled me to change the direction of my life and relationships, and continues to support me to navigate life's challenges.

Training & Experience

I hold a Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, following four years of intensive training and clinical supervision at The Metanoia Institute. I am currently undertaking further training toward an MSc in contemporary person-centred psychotherapy and am completing my research dissertation.

Before training as a psychotherapist, I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in the arts, and worked as a freelance theatre-maker and performer. Alongside this, I spent eight years designing and facilitating communication training across workplace, education, and healthcare settings. In this work, I supported people to relate with confidence and authenticity, and to get the most out of their conversations with clients and colleagues. My background in the arts and facilitation continues to inform my therapeutic practice, allowing me to bring creativity and a deep understanding of interpersonal relationships to my work.
I have been working with clients since 2021, and began private practice in 2023. Below are some of the areas I have worked with.

I am a registered member of BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy) and trainee member of the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) and work within their ethical frameworks. This framework includes providing anti-oppressive, anti-racist practice, and prioritising continuing professional development. My practice is underpinned and informed by my ethical values of trustworthiness, transparency, integrity, and respect..
I am committed to providing safe and trustworthy psychotherapy for the LGBTQIA+ community, and those who identify as gender, sex, or relationship diverse. Trans, non-binary and gender-expansive people are welcome in my work.
Why the images of the sea?

Standing by the sea is a place I feel at home. A place I can reflect on my thoughts and feelings without judgment, and get to know myself a little better each time. I hope to create a similar therapeutic environment for my clients.
